When it comes to glass canopies how do you clean them? Well, there’s several ways – rope access, EWP (Elevated Work Platform), extendable water pole to name a few.
Rope access, the easiest way to clean a glass canopy (most of the time) is by using rope access, by abseiling down onto the canopy, using static lines running across the canopy to ensure full access to the canopy. With some canopies our technicians will set use their ropes to allow safe access to areas not usually accessed with traditional methods.
Using an EWP can gain easy access to either side of a canopy, if working on the underside of a canopy it makes sense to use an EWP, it gives the worker more time to work, allows the worker to obtain access to all areas of a canopy and allows a worker to apply more pressure to the task at hand. When cleaning the top of a canopy using knuckle boom with an extendable pole can allow full access to a canopy. This method is the best alternative if no roof safety systems are installed on a canopy.
Another way we clean canopies is by using an extendable water pole, often by a walkway by the side of the canopy a worker will use the extendable pole to clean as much of the canopy as possible, now this does method can have limitations in that the pole doesn’t extend the length or width of the canopy. This is where, as mentioned previously a rope access technician would be able to assist.
